Fundraiser to Defend Ball's Bridge & the Little Lakes Area

Join the Friends of Ball's Bridge & Little Lakes (FOBBLL) and the Reform Gravel Mining Coalition at the "Fundraiser to Defend The Little Lakes and Ball's Bridge Area," with the aim of supporting and preserving this precious and cherished place.
In September, the Ontario Land Tribunal will hear FOBBLL's case against the gravel mining company Lobo/Van Bree Sand & Gravel, and decide the fate of our community. FOBBLL writes:

"The next month is a crucial phase in our campaign to stop a below the water table mine from harming wetlands, wildlife habitat, lakes and the Maitland River. Research carried out by our group has found that there are already over 50 pits on the Maitland/Bayfield watershed. We do not need one more! To make a strong case at the hearing, we have hired lawyers and experts well-versed in fighting the aggregate industry. This is an important event and we need you there to stop them from hauling our future away. Generations before us have enjoyed this area and future generations deserve to have the same. It will be an exciting evening of music, art and discussion.
Food and Refreshments will be served. Food is being provided by local Huron County businesses (Maitland Market, White Carnation, Meeting Place Organic Farm, Firmly Rooted Organic Farm and more TBA).
Your ticket cost is to cover our expenses for the event.

Agenda: Doors Open 7:15 pm, Food and Refreshments until 7:45 pm
Entertainment start at 7:45 pm Including the debut launch of the Oratario of Hope- "The Road", an original composition by local composer S. Campos, Local Performer- Phil Main, Local Harpist - Alexa Yeo

Event Ends at 9 pm.
Please join us for this special and important evening.

We acknowledge that we work on the Treaty and traditional territory of the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation, Treaty 13 and the Williams Treaties, the Treaty and traditional territory of Williams Treaty Nations (Alderville, Hiawatha, Curve Lake, Hiawatha and Scugog Island, Beausoleil, Georgina Island and Rama Island First Nations). Ancestrally this territory was home to other First Nations including the Wendat, Haudenosaunee, and the Pentun peoples. Today, this land is now home to many diverse First Nations, Inuit, and Métis peoples. In addition, our work takes place nationwide, across all the Treaty and unceded lands of Turtle Island. We recognize, respect and strive to reconcile the inherent Aboriginal and Treaty rights of all the Indigenous peoples as upheld within the UN Declaration of the Rights of Indigenous Peoples, The Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms and the Constitution of Canada.
